Product Description
Outdoor H.V. A.C. Live Tank SF6 Gas Circuit Breaker
Live tank SF6 gas circuit breakers,whose rated voltage from 40.5kV to 550kV and
rated current from 3150A to 5000A are provided with two kinds of operating mechanism, spring and
hydraulic type. Motor is used in spring mechanism to charge closing spring and to charge opening
spring during closing operation. Disk spring is used in hydraulic mechanism for charging in stead
of traditional compressed nitrogen gas, and hydraulic driving is used in both opening and closing
operations. The two kinds of operating mechanism have their own features and are used respectively
for different voltage class. Due to the unit structure of circuit breaker, it boasts of advantages of
minimized number of breaks and components, simple structure, high reliability as well as long
maintenance-free period.
LW25-252/T4000-50 circuit breaker with spring operated mechanism was successfully developed and
tested in Sep. 2006, filling in the blank in China.
LW25D- /T3150- single-phase operated circuit breaker with spring mechanism was successfully
developed and tested in Dec. 2006.
LW25A-252/Y4000-50 three-phase mechanically group-operated circuit breaker with hydraulic
mechanism was successfully developed and tested in Jan. 2007. It was the first set made in China.
LW25-126/T4000-40 special circuit breaker for reactive compensation passed the required technical
appraisals in Jan. 2007, with switching capacity of 1600A (back-to-back capacitor bank current and
shunt reactor current), breaking capacity of 3500-4000A (single capacitor bank current), which can meet
the switching requirements of main circuit and by-pass circuit for reactive compensation in UHV.
220kV circuit breakers (and above voltage) with "XD" brand were awarded "China Famous Brand"
in Sept. 2007.
LW15A-550/Y5000-63 special circuit breaker was successfully developed and tested in Aug., 2008 with
breaking capacity of capacitive current 500A (C2), recovery voltage 1470kV, which is able to break the
capacitive current in 500kV line. It filled the domestic blank with international advanced level.
LW15C-252/Y5000-63 circuit breaker with high breaking capacity equipped with hydraulic mechanism
was successfully developed and tested in Oct. 2008, which was the national initiative with international
advanced level.
±50kV high voltage DC circuit breaker with international advanced level was successfully developed
and tested in 2009, including NBS(Neutral Busbar Switch), MRTB(Metal Ring Transfer Breaker),
GRTS(Grounding Ring Transfer Switch) and NBGS(Neutral Busbar Grounding Switch).
ZW-126/T2000-40 vacuum circuit breaker was successfully developed in 2010, and it reached the
international advanced level.

Main Features and Advantages
1.Superior interrupting capability
Single-unit structure is applied in the construction of circuit breaker with variable break distances,
which is able to meet different switching requirements. The well designed arc-extinguishing chamber
can withstand either severe rising rate of the recovery voltage by a short-line fault or peak recovery
voltage by breaking out-of - phase current. In switching excited current, the overvoltage is less than
twice of operating voltage. No restrike or reignition occurs during switching line-charging current.
2. Reliable insulation and current-carrying capability
Because of the isolation of SF6 gas from the atmosphere, the breaker has a reliable insulating capa
bility.SF6 gas property does not change with age and at the same time it protects the insulating parts
within the gas chamber. It also prevents the contacts from oxidization and other chemical reactions
as SF6 gas is stable and inert in nature when it is used together with other materials.
3. High reliability
The series of circuit breakers passed all type tests at National High Voltage Apparatus Quality Mon
itor and Inspection Center. The mechanical endurance is 3000 times without adjustment and 10000
times with lubrication and adjustment allowed. They also passed the electrical endurance test, break
ing 20 times at rated short-circuit breaking current (40kA/50kA/63kA) during type tests.
4. Excellent operating mechanism
The spring operated mechanism is professionally manufactured by Sino-Japanese joint venture XD
Mitsubishi Co. with excellent performance. The hydraulic operating mechanism is also very reliable
and durable.
5. Minimized maintenance work
The circuit breaker is constructed by unit structures, resulting in minimized number of breaks and
parts, thus greatly reduces the inspection and maintenance work. In addition, its operating mecha
nism boasts advanced technology and excellent performance, the circuit breaker hardly needs any
repair.
6. Excellent earthquake withstand capability
The live tank SF6 gas circuit breaker is substantially resistant to seismic shock due to its simple con
struction and light weight.

Structure and Principle
For this SF6 circuit breaker, the single-unit structure is applied in the construction. There are advantages
of minimized number of breaks and parts, and simply structure.
Both opening and closing operations of spring mechanism are driven by spring force. Before oper
ation, closing spring is charged by motor in advance while opening spring is charged during closing
operation. The controlling parts of second circuit and SF6 gas density are placed in the enclosure of the
mechanism.
In hydraulic operating mechanism, the disk spring is charged by oil pump driven by motor. The power
of hydraulic pressure is used to complete opening/closing operation. This mechanism is provided with
anti-slow opening device
Spring operated mechanism
The design of this mechanism ensures the excellent performance required by reliable operation.Fig.2
shows the mechanism at closed position. When tripping coil is energized, holding latch for opening is
released, and the lever engaged with the locking device rotates counterclockwise driven by tripping
spring. Fig.3 shows the mechanism at opening position. At this moment, when closing coil is energized,
holding latch for closing is released, the cam and the ratchet wheel engaged with the locking device
rotate counterclockwise driven by closing spring, and the lever rotates clockwise. The torque created by
cam compresses the opening spring.Fig.4 shows the mechanism at closed position (Closing spring dis
charged). Once the closed operation is completed, the closing spring is charged by the ratchet linked to
the motor
