The gap-less metal oxide arrester has better protection characteristics under steep wave, lightning wave and operating wave than the traditional silicon carbide arrester due to the use of the oxide resistor with excellent nonlinear volt-ampere characteristics. In particular, the oxide resistor has good steep-wave response and no delay to the steep-wave voltage. Operating residual low, no discharge dispersion and other advantages overcome the inherent silicon carbide arrester due to steep wave discharge delay caused by high steep wave discharge voltage, operating wave discharge dispersion is large, resulting in high operating wave discharge voltage shortcomings, thereby increasing the protection margin under steep wave, lightning wave, operating wave, in terms of insulation. The protection margin under steep wave, lightning wave, and operating wave is close to the same, providing the best protection for the device and improving the protection reliability.
